Will converting JPG to PDF reduce the image quality?

Not at the highest quality setting. Docqify embeds the original JPEG data in the PDF rather than decoding and re-encoding it, so there is no second lossy pass and no generation loss. Lower quality settings deliberately re-compress to reduce file size — that is the trade-off you are choosing when you pick them.

Why do my photos come out rotated sideways?

They should not. Phone cameras usually store the image in landscape and record the intended rotation separately in an EXIF orientation tag. Converters that ignore that tag output sideways pages. Docqify reads the tag and applies it, so a portrait photo produces a portrait page.

What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?

Nothing. They are the same format. The three-letter extension is a leftover from early Windows, which limited extensions to three characters. Docqify accepts .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe and .jfif identically.

JPEG is a lossy format, which means every time it is decoded and saved again it loses a little more detail — an effect called generation loss. Most online converters re-encode your photos at least once on the way into the PDF. At the highest quality setting Docqify embeds your original JPEG data directly, so the image inside the PDF is byte-identical to the file you started with. Camera and phone rotation stored in EXIF is read and applied, so portrait shots stay portrait.
