One word, two different jobs

Flattening means two unrelated things, and picking the wrong one sends you away with the wrong document. Making a filled form permanent draws the values into the page and takes the controls away: the text stays text, the file barely changes size, and a signed form stops being editable. Turning the pages into pictures is the other thing people mean — genuinely uneditable, at the cost of the words no longer being words. Docqify offers both, separately, with the price of each on the label.

  • Making a form permanent keeps the text selectable, searchable and readable by a screen reader. It adds a few bytes rather than a few megabytes.
  • Turning pages into pictures makes a document that cannot be edited or copied from — and cannot be searched or read aloud either, and will be several times larger.
  • A PDF with no form fields and no annotations is told it has nothing to make permanent, rather than handed back an identical file.
  • Everything runs on your device. The page ships a Content Security Policy that blocks connections to any other origin, so a document you flatten here cannot be sent anywhere.
